The Art of Deskwarming!

3 Aug

If you are a public school native English teacher (what a mouthful) in Korea then you have to be prepared for one thing and that is the art of Deskwarming.  Yes we get paid to sit at our desk and do absolutely nothing.  There is no logical explanation for this, it’s just the way it is!  As a native teacher we are what can be named contract teachers.  Thus we are not real teachers.  We have not taken the teaching exam and thus do not qualify for the same vacation time that regular Korean teachers get.  We are allowed 8 days of paid leave in summer and 10 days in winter.  That;s it.  Outside of that you have to drag your foreign butt to school even if there is no one else in sight!  That is way NET’s have perfected the art of deskwarming!

Cheers from Kimchiland!
